Question 1
1.1 Please download a Paper 1 of the November 2018 mathematics examination here or download it from the Department of Basic Education’s website. Use this question paper to answer the questions that follow:
1.1.1 Examine EVERY QUESTION and classify them according to various cognitive levels of Bloom’s taxonomy. Give a reason for each classification. Draw a table in which you indicate a level and name, the first three words in the question, the mark allocation and the reason why you think the question is suitable for the level.
1.1.2 Summarise the mark allocation according to different levels and indicate the total mark per level. Use a table to indicate the level and the total marks.
1.1.3 Reflect on the examination paper. Decide if the question paper was set according to CAPS guidelines.

2.1 Suppose you are planning to give your Grade 11 learners the investigation set out below. Plot the following graphs on the same set of axes:
(a) 𝑎(𝑥 𝑥 2 2
(b) 𝑏(𝑥 𝑥 1 2
(c) 𝑐(𝑥 𝑥2
(d) 𝑑(𝑥)=(𝑥+1)2
(e) 𝑒(𝑥)=(𝑥+2)2
Use your results to deduce the effect of 𝑝.
Now, use the above investigation to answer the questions that follow:
2.1.1 Draw up a lesson plan for the investigation in 2.1. Use the three-phase lesson format: before, during and after. Describe in detail what you are going to do in each of the three phases. Give two activities in your lesson plan that may be used to enhance the learners’ understanding of the knowledge taught. A lesson plan template in your study guide may be used as a guide. (20)
2.1.2 A rubric is a form of grading guide that evaluates and articulates particular aspects and expectations for an assignment. Design a six-point analytic rubric that can be used to assess this investigation. Your rubric should be customised to assess the aspects of this investigation.
2.1.3 There are several software programs available today which can plot graphs.
• Choose one software and use it to answer the investigation in 2.1.
• Cut and paste your graphs in your answer book where necessary.
• Deduce the effect of 𝑝.
• Clearly indicate the name of the software and explain how it works.
• Comment on the accessibility of the software.
Question 3
