INSTRUCTIONS FOR WRITING ASSIGNMENT 02 (COMPULSORY)

The length of the essay SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 3 HANDWRITTEN OR
2 TYPED PAGES, excluding the title page and list of sources. Use either the
Aerial or Times Roman font with one and half spacing.
Generally, the following format is used for writing the essay:

TITLE: The title should be on its own page.
The next page should contain a Table of Contents compiled as follows:

2 SUB-HEADING (according to your title)
2.1 Sub-sub heading (according to the sub-heading above)
2.2 Sub-sub heading (follow-up to the above sub-sub heading)
2.3 Sub-sub heading (follow-up to the above sub-sub heading) – the number
of sub-headings will be dependent on the nature of the title.

You must divide the essay into four sections:
Introduction – You should use this section to introduce the topic to the reader. It is
important to provide a brief but interesting introduction which should inform the
reader what this essay is about. Briefly continue to inform your reader which sub-
headings will be covered in the essay. Please do not make use of any references
within your Introduction. Your introduction should be in your own words.
Discussion – In the discussion, as represented by point 2 above, you will use your
knowledge of the topic to support the standpoint you have set out in the
introduction.
