career.

Education and Training

Individuals can obtain formal education by enrolling in paralegal courses offered by
universities, colleges, or training institutions. These courses provide structured
knowledge and skills related to legal practices, social welfare law, and other areas
relevant to paralegal work.
Formal training ensures that paralegals are well-equipped with the legal knowledge
necessary to assist legal professionals effectively.

Work Experience

Some individuals gain paralegal skills through practical work experience. Before formal
training programs were established, paralegals primarily acquired their knowledge by
working in law firms, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), or community-based
legal advice offices.Working under the supervision of legal professionals, individuals
develop the necessary skills to perform paralegal tasks.

Community-Based Paralegal Practice

Another pathway is through involvement in community-based paralegal work, where
individuals focus on social justice, human rights, and legal education within
communities.
Many paralegals begin their careers in organizations such as the National Community
Based Paralegal Association (NCBPA), which provides support and training to
community-based paralegals.
