Read the following statement:
1.1) in your own words, describe what CAPS is and discuss its significance within
the South African education system.

CAPS stands for Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement. Adopted in January
2012, it replaced earlier curriculum documents like the Subject Statements and
Learning Programme Guidelines to create a single, comprehensive, and standardized
policy for each subject from Grade R to Grade 1.
