 To gain an understanding of significant developments in the history of Africa and the world from the 17th century to the early 21st century
 To acquire an appreciation of the critical place of Africa in the history of the world.’
 To gain an understanding of some major themes in the history of Africa and the world over the last four centuries, and to come to understand the important place of Africa in these developments.
 Develop an understanding of the historical roots of current African society, acquire respect, appreciation and understanding of different societies, cultures
 and points of view.
 To produce effective learning, analytical and critical skills which are appropriate to the discipline of History and are transferable to other disciplines and other contexts.
• Assessment 1 reflection: Write a reflection based on quiz one, answering the following questions. [10]
1. Explain how historians systematically study the past.
2. Mention the analytical skills that you can learn from studying history.
3. Outline the main components that make up a well-written paragraph.
4. Outline the main components of a well-structured essay.
5. Explain what constitutes academic dishonesty in history assessment.
