“Academic misconduct, encompassing acts of plagiarism and cheating, has long been a pressing concern within educational institutions. However, the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has brought forth a transformed landscape of academic dishonesty, presenting novel challenges for educators.”
Adapted from: Mohammadkarimi, E. (2023). Teachers’ reflections on academic dishonesty in EFL students’ writings in the era of artificial intelligence. Journal of Applied Learning and Teaching, 6(2).
Use the direct quotation above as your point of reference and write a discursive essay in which you discuss three leading causes of academic dishonesty and its impact on higher institutions.
Your essay should focus on improper AI usage, the reduction of critical thinking skills, and the deterioration of the quality of students’ future workforce.
QUESTION TWO – COMPARE AND CONTRAST ESSAY
[TOTAL: 100 MARKS]
USE THE RUBRIC AT THE END OF THIS DOCUMENT TO GUIDE YOUR RESPONSES (C-40), LANGUAGE (L-40), and PRESENTATION (P-20) MARK.
“During the pandemic, many institutions shifted from face-to-face to online teaching, and in some cases, this included existing peer learning programs. As the pandemic receded, some of these peer learning programs returned to face-to-face operation and others adopted a blended format, while others remained online. Online learning offers flexibility regarding response time but sacrifices the immediate dialogue of offline learning.”
Adapted from: Topping, K.J. (2023). Advantages and Disadvantages of Online and Face-to-Face Peer Learning in Higher Education: A Review. Educ. Sci, 13(326).
