Read the following statement and then answer the question that follows.
Every teacher must meet specific standards when teaching a first additional
language.

1.1 Discuss the standards set by Aitchison, Dixon, Pretorius, Reed and Verbee(2018) for graduate teachers using your own words to show an understanding of trequirements.

Aitchison et al. (2018: 3) stipulate that graduate teachers should (1) possess deep knowledof both language structure and literacy strategies and know how to teach learners to readwrite effectively, (2) be able to plan and deliver systematic lessons in English First AdditionLanguage aligned with CAPS, focusing on reading and writing skills, and (3) demonstratemastery of the processes, skills and pedagogical content knowledge needed to teach Engin its spoken and written forms.
