A professional teacher is an educator who possesses the necessary credentials,
knowledge, and skills to effectively facilitate student learning. This includes earning
qualifications from authoritative bodies, such as government regulatory authorities or
educational institutions, which authorize them to teach in specific educational settings.

I slightly agree with this definition because it emphasizes the importance of formal
qualifications and certifications, ensuring that teachers have met established standards
of competence. But the Becoming a teacher book says. “Professional teachers are
engaged with the young for far longer than any other professional. Teachers as caring
professionals are clearly distinct from all other professionals, because they are
committed to the young people they work with, and to the ideals of the common good”
