1. Substantiate the value of assessments for learners. (4)
2. Read the following statements. If you agree with a statement, you write YES next to the number of the statement. If you disagree with a statement, you write NO next to the number of the statement. 2.1 The progress of each learner measured by assessment is known as norm-referenced assessment.
2.2 A teacher who sets assessments in such a way that it is relatively easy for learners to pass is assisting the learners a great deal.
2.3 Every teacher should strive for credibility, dependability, usefulness, objectivity and economy in compiling and marking assessments.
2.4 Currently, Economics learners are progressed with a final pass mark above 29% made up of 75% from school-based assessments and 25% from the final examination.
2.5 Moderation refers to the process that ensures that the assessment tasks are fair, valid and reliable.

4.2 Critically discuss how South Africa’s unfavourable economic climate has an impact on poverty, unemployment and inequality.

5. The design of assessment tasks should cover the content of the
subject and include a variety of tasks. Comment on the use of
the case study as a task of assessment. (6)
6. Use the chapter on assessment in your CAPS for Economics to
discuss the structure of the Economics paper 1 as follows:
