1.1. In the South African context, we often have classrooms with diverse cultures and languages. Some learners may be more proficient in their home language than in the language of instruction. Name and discuss five ways in which you would incorporate translanguaging in your lessons, to bridge the language gap and ensure that all learners are catered for in a multicultural classroom. (15)
1.2. Discuss the challenges and benefits of teaching home languages in a multicultural context. Explain how you can adapt your teaching to ensure an all-inclusive classroom environment. (15)
2.1. Imagine you were planning a listening lesson, and integrating reading and speaking activities. How would you structure your lesson to ensure all skills (listening, speaking and reading) are included in the lesson? (10)
2.2. Provide a suitable listening text for a listening lesson for Grade 5 learners and briefly explain why the material is suitable for teaching listening to Grade 5 learners. (5)
2.3. Using the listening text from question 2.2., provide examples of activities that can be used in the pre-listening, while listening and post-listening phases of a lesson. (15)
