ability to read and comprehend, making it essential for academic success and lifelonglearning.

Reading enables us to function adequately in society
Reading is critical for daily functioning, such as reading instructions, labels, warning
signs, menus, maps, and important documents. Davis (2016) notes that reading
forms the “building blocks of life” and allows individuals to make informed decisions,
participate effectively in society, and navigate their environment safely.
