Prejudice is a negative emotional response or attitude directed toward members of a
social group solely because of their group membership (Baumeister & Bushman, 2022;
Stangor, 2015). An example related to the central theme of Sczesny et al. (2006) is the
negative affective reaction e.g. discomfort or lowered evaluation) toward women or
feminine-appearing individuals when judging their suitability for leadership roles,
stemming from the “think-manager–think-male” association.
