1.1 Define “philosophy of education” and explain its purpose. Why is it important
for educators to study the philosophy of education?

According to chapter 4 Philosophy of education is the study of education, focusing on how
we learn, what knowledge is, and the purpose of teaching. It helps educators understand
different ways of teaching, how students learn, and how education shapes society. It also
encourages critical thinking and helps improve teaching methods to make learning more
meaningful.
