Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) have become a significant phenomenon of global economy. Through
FDI many firms see the world as an open market, which makes their presence in the world economy
possible and visible. The previous role in the world economy through FDI were the UK, France, Germany,
Netherlands and Japan. China, however, is changing the status quo, with their FDI having from $12 billion
in 2005 to $133 billion in 2020. Much of such investments were in less developed such as the US, with
investment of about $46 billion and $30 billion in 2016 and 2019 in the US alone. China’s FDI in the US
declined to $5 billion after an ongoing trade conflict.
