LCP4807 Assignment 2 Semester 2 MEMO | Due 8 September 2026. All questions fully answered. The Republic of Masaala is a small country in Southeastern Africa, with a population of just over 3 million. It is one of the poorest countries in the world, with 70% of the residents living on less than $3 per day. Masala is a culturally rich country with a patriarchal society where gender norms are set with an understanding of the sociocultural expectations of both women and men. Masaala has a constitution that includes a Bill of Rights, which is the country’s supreme law. It has ratified the following major United Nations (UN) human rights instruments: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) (and its Protocol). Masaala has also ratified various African instruments including, the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights; the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa, and the Protocol to the African Charter on the Establishment of an African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights but has not made a special declaration in terms of article 34(6).
