In your response, critically analyse the learning barriers that may affect learners’
achievement and evaluate how a teacher’s teaching strategies, planning, and attitudes
can either enhance or hinder effective learning. Support your argument with relevant
examples (20 marks).
Task 9. 2: (20 marks)
Using the challenges illustrated in the cartoon:
Propose practical, realistic strategies that South African teachers can implement to
support diverse learners amid common classroom challenges like overcrowded classes
and classroom management difficulties, ineffective lesson planning and teaching
methods, assessment and grading pressures.
Your response should:
 Focus on inclusive education principles, practices and methods that promote
success for all learners
 Clearly explain two strategies and demonstrate how these strategies support
diverse learners
 Include examples from South African classrooms
Task 9.3 (40 marks)
Critically evaluate South African Inclusive Education (White paper 6) and Screening
Identification Assessment Support (SIAS) policies, by discussing how apartheid
imbalances, socio-economic factors, political and cultural differences have influenced its
implementation and practice:

9.3.1 Explain Inclusive Education and SIAS policies (10). Consult at least three different
authors.
9.3.2. In approximately 300 words, analyse the apartheid imbalances and political impact
in developing Inclusive Education (10).
9.3.3. In approximately 300 words, examine ways that socio-economic status and cultural
norms shape access to and participation in inclusive education and SIAS (10).
9.3.4. In 250 words, briefly evaluate how educators, communities, policymakers and all
other relevant stakeholders can work together to overcome challenges in developing
Inclusive Education (10).
Please give relevant examples and references.
