1. Empathise and define
Identify and critically analyse two distinct, current and strategically significant
challenges affecting organisations within your selected organisational or industry
context in the new world of work. For each challenge, you must: 1.1 Identify the key
organisational stakeholders affected by the challenge e.g, employees, managers,
executives, remote workers, diverse employee groups, unions, customers, etc.

The South African banking sector operates in a high-velocity environment shaped by the
Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), digitalisation, fintech competition, regulatory pressure
(POPIA, Employment Equity Act), and post-pandemic hybrid work norms. Traditional
transactional HR approaches are insufficient. Two strategically significant, current
challenges are analysed below. No solutions are proposed in this stage.
Acute digital/AI skills gaps and talent shortages amid rapid technological
transformation

 

Ethical risks, bias, and resistance linked to AI adoption and hybrid work models,
with consequences for employee well-being, diversity, equity, inclusion and
belonging (DEIB), and organisational culture
1.1 Stakeholders affected
Diverse employee groups (including historically disadvantaged groups under the
Employment Equity Act), remote/hybrid workers, line managers, HR practitioners
deploying AI tools, executives, regulators, and customers whose data is processed.
1.2 Critical analysis

Technological drivers are AI systems used in recruitment, performance management,
lending decisions, and workforce analytics. Social drivers include hybrid work
