Description

This research portfolio for the HMEMS80 module investigates the role of academic integrity courses in reducing plagiarism among postgraduate students at Unisa. The portfolio consists of three detailed research proposals:

  1. Proposal 1 applies a quasi-experimental design to compare plagiarism levels between students who completed the academic integrity course and those who did not.

  2. Proposal 2 uses correlational methods to explore whether there is a measurable relationship between course completion and Turnitin similarity scores.

  3. Proposal 3 adopts a qualitative approach to explore how students perceive the usefulness and impact of the academic writing course on their academic behaviour.

Together, these proposals provide a holistic view of how academic integrity training may influence student conduct in an open-distance learning environment. Ethical considerations, relevant literature, and context-specific challenges are addressed throughout the portfolio, with the goal of informing future support strategies and institutional policy at Unisa.
