Inclusive education can be conceptualised as the provision of quality education to all learners through access, participation and achievement. In other words, teachers are required to not only accommodate their learners’ diversity, but also understand their learners’ strengths, needs and interests to teach them effectively. This implies that teachers must develop the competencies to accommodate linguistic, cultural, socioeconomic, gender, and developmental diversity.
