EXTRACT A The old, worn-out piano had been collecting dust in the corner of the room for years. Its once-polished surface now faded, its keys yellowed with age. But as I sat down to play, something magical happened. The notes seemed to transport me to a different era, one of elegance and refinement. The music whispered secrets of the past, of love and loss, of joy and heartache. And so do I.” Jake: “You’re just a goody-goody, Tyler. You always have to stick up for everyone.” Tyler: “Someone has to. You’re being really mean, Jake. And it’s not okay.” Jake: “Whatever. You can’t tell me what to do.’ Tyler: “Actually, I can. We’re friends, Jake, and I don’t want to see you being a bully. It’s not cool.” Jake: “Fine…I’ll leave him alone. But only because I don’t want to lose our friendship.” Tyler: “That’s a good start. Let’s try to be kind to everyone, okay?” Source: “The Bully, the Bullied, and the Bystander” by Barbara Coloroso 4 Question: Write a paragraph of about 150 words, in which you identify the genre of EXTRACT B and comment on the writer’s use of descriptive linguistic and visual features to convey the writer’s opinion of social media.
