(4 Marks) 3) According to Nunan (2001:23) hearing, attending and understanding are three stages in the listening process. In your own words, explain EACH of these stages in one sentence. (6 Marks) 4) The goal of critical listening differs from the goal of informational listening. Discuss in TWO sentences the difference in the goals. (1 Mark) 2.2) Provide a formal equivalent for the phrase identified in Q2.1. (1 Mark) 3) Read Paragraph 2 carefully. 3.1) Discuss, using quotes from the paragraph, how the author makes Hermoine and reading seem fun. (2 Marks) 4) The purpose of an informative text is to inform, and it will likely use facts and data to construct its message. The purpose of a creative text is to affect the reader emotionally or to say something about a social problem. 4.1) Would you categorise this article as an informative text or a creative text? Provide a reason for your answer. (3 Marks) 5) In Paragraph 4 the author states “The message seems all wrong: We have to bribe you to read for fun.” 5.1) What tone of voice would YOU use to read the sentence aloud? Give a reason for your answer. (2 Marks) 5.2) Provide 2 reasons why YOU think bribing children to read is a GOOD idea.
