Various ideologies are present in the different media texts we are confronted with on a daily basis. As we read newspapers, listen to the radio or watch television, we are exposed to different ideologies. We may share the same ideology or those represented by the media could be totally different from our own (Cilliers, Breet-van Niekerk, Kirsten & Reid 2007:64). As we study the media, it is important to understand the role of the media in representing different ideologies.
