Explain how the language used in your home or community guides the way
people see themselves and others.
The language we speak at home shapes how we view ourselves and other people.
In my community, the words we use show respect. For example, we call older people
“Mama” or “Tata” instead of using their first names. This teaches children that older
people deserve respect. When a child grows up using these words, they learn to see
themselves as someone who must show respect to elders.
