a nationwide anti-illegal immigration campaign led primarily by civil society groups and
supported by several political organisations. The movement argued that illegal
immigration contributes to unemployment, crime, pressure on healthcare, housing
shortages, and the deterioration of public services. Protesters demanded stronger
border security, stricter immigration enforcement, and the review of existing
immigration legislation.
