Description
1. Introduction
This assignment looks at two important topics in criminology. The first part explains why
men commit more crimes than women. The second part looks at different types of drugs
and what happens when people take too much of them. Both topics help us understand
crime and how to prevent it.
2. Question 1: Reasons Why Men Commit More Crimes Than Women
2.1 Introduction
Research shows that men commit more crimes than women all over the world. This is
called the “gender gap” in crime. Men are more likely to commit violent crimes and
serious crimes against property. Women commit fewer crimes, and when they do, their
crimes are usually less serious. This section looks at the main reasons for this
difference.
2.2 Definition of Key Concepts
Gender refers to the social roles, behaviours and expectations that society connects
with being male or female. It is different from sex, which is about biology.
Crime means any act that breaks the law and can be punished by the state.
