1. Assignment Overview
Imagine that you have been appointed as a newly qualified Physical Education
teacher and Sport Coach at a South African school. As a beginning professional,
you will be expected to promote healthy, active, safe, ethical, and inclusive
participation in Physical Education and Sport. Drawing on Learning Units 1–4,
develop and present a narrated PowerPoint (10 slides only) on how you would
fulfill this role.
2. Assignment Question
Develop and narrate a PowerPoint presentation (no more than 10 minutes) titled
‘‘My First Year as a Physical Education Teacher and Sport Coach.” In your own
words, explain how your knowledge gained from Learning Units 1–4 will guide
your teaching and coaching practice. Demonstrate how you would promote
learner development, wellbeing, fitness, ethical participation, inclusion, and
lifelong engagement in Physical Education and Sport.

subsections, listed in brackets for each slide.
Slide 1: Title slide and table of contents.
Slide 2: A clear photograph or screenshot of your valid student card.
Slide 3: The value and importance of Physical Education and Sport in schools
(LU1).
Slide 4: How knowledge of the human body, growth, and development would
influence your teaching and coaching practices (LU2: 2.2–2.4).
Slide 5: How you would promote physical fitness, exercise participation, and
learner development (LU2: 2.5–2.6).
Slide 6: The importance of nutrition and learner wellbeing in Physical Education
and Sport (LU3: 3.2–3.2.4).
Slide 7: How you would educate learners about substance abuse, ethical
participation, and healthy choices (LU3: 3.3–3.4).
Slide 8: Your responsibilities as a Physical Education teacher and Sport Coach
