1.1 Evaluate the importance of the module HED2601 in your training as a teacher.
The module HED2601 (History of Education) is very important in my training as a
teacher because it helps me understand how Early Childhood Education (ECE)
developed over time. Studying the historical foundations of education, I can better
understand why certain teaching methods, policies and practices exist today.
The module helps me see how social, political and economic events such as the
Industrial Revolution and World Wars influenced education systems. It enables me to
understand how past inequalities, including apartheid in South Africa, shaped the
current education system. This knowledge helps me to promote equality and social
justice in my classroom.
HED2601 links with other modules such as Child Development (CHD3701) and
Foundation Phase Teaching (FPF3701), helping me connect theory with practice.
